A man went to confession in his local church.
He had a video recorder in his arms.
"Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I stole this
video recorder as I can't afford to buy one. Would
you take it from me please so I won't feel so bad?"
"Certainly not," said the priest. "You must return it
to the person you stole it from."
"I tried to give it back to him," said the man. "But
he refused to take it back. Oh, Father, what should I
do?"
The priest thought for a minute and then said, "If
what you say is true - that the man refused to take
it back - then it is alright for you to keep it for
your family."
The man thanked the priest and hurried off.
When confession was over the priest returned to
his residence. When he entered his living room he
discovered that his video recorder had been stolen.
